Back on the Road After the Second Lost Day...

Friday September 10th, 2010

I can’t believe it’s Friday – we’ve lost another day and a half to the bug bug from intestinal hell.... And I’ve lost two days of writing....

Yesterday was resting amid cleaning up the camper after the second round of stomach flu or whatever this nasty bug is... this time from Argo...

As I posted on facebook – “you know you love somebody when you are still sick yourself but you clean up the peach and McDonalds barf that wont go down the camper sink drain so he doesn’t throw up again when he goes back into the bathroom ... above and beyond holding hair back...

I also mused as I puttered and did laundry that this is NOT the way I envisioned keeping my weight steady while travelling...

But all things considered if one has to be miserably sick, the mothership is a very comfy place to be sick... Its so warm and cozy and nestlike and small enough to keep up even when deathly ill. And the bed is really comfy for an RV... Even when Argo was so sick he had to lie on the living room couch it didn’t feel too far away for me to know if he needed something.

Also, we got lucky and were able to keep our KOA spot without moving even with no reservation and the laundry machines were excellent – so I could I could wash away all the sick bugs... and the shower was superb too... I will catch another here just before we leave after Argo brings back the shampoo...

And Matt and Tyler worked together to keep the home front going and send me enough money to get food and medicine at the local Costco – I’ve been shopping more at the Ogden Utah Costco that the one in Puyallup this month...

We loaded up on sick people food and I found that the Utah Costco has much more lack of death food than the Washington Costco...

Argo slept almost all day in and out of high body torso fevers and I napped for several hours while between laundry and puppy walking... then we pulled it together to make that Costco run... and had a slow sleepy settled nite.

We ate cookie dough bites with milk, fruit (well Argo did my tummy isn’t ready) and microwave frozen burritos. And Gatorade, I never drink that stuff, but when I am so dehydrated the skin on my hands looks 20 years older then me and stands up when pinched, Gatorade sounds really good... esp. the green stuff...

I love reading aloud to Argo and we are now 9 chapters in to Kushiel’s Chosen... He even read a chapter back to me – we bribe each other with things we want done as a mock trade for the reading we want to do anyway... I always catch so much more of the book when I reread aloud.... So we read for a bit, and then slept solid until Aja boo woke me up for her putter...

Kolta and Aja have been soooo sooo good here on this journey, so patient with no yard time especially with me not being able to putter them for very long the last three/four days... today we got a much better walk in though...and they are happy sleeping in the sunshine now

It’s lovely and sunny and feels like a good day to get a 400 hundred mile run in, then rest again and read...

Then Saturday should see us home with the pack.

I never would have planned being sick, but this has been such a good time with Argo and the mama Kolta and Aja – it re-inspires me to design a portable kennel and get that doggy trailer and hit the road.. I love this traveling... and am re energized to spend the next year getting ready to be able to do more of this.
